Today’s online world presents significant risks for boys and young men, including extremist radicalization, financial sextortion, and misogynist influencers. These risks can impact mental health, relationships, and behaviours. NGM Alliance (NGMA) offers a proven alternative: a safe, supportive, and engaging online space where youth can build protective factors like belonging and connection, and develop healthy identities.
NGMA is an online Discord-based community created in 2020 by Next Gen Men to support boys and nonbinary youth through connection, mentorship, and positive peer relationships. This evaluation, completed in partnership with PolicyWise for Children & Families, examined NGMA’s impact on youth well-being, relationships, and attitudes. It draws on interviews, photovoice activities, server analytics, and engagement data. The findings demonstrate that NGMA supports mental health, builds belonging, and contributes to more positive attitudes and behaviours among its members.
